The Maastricht Guitar Society is excited to present the Ukranian guitar phenom Marko Topchii in the groote zaal of the Gasthuis Calvarienberg, Abtstraat 2a. Marko is one of the most successful competition winners on the international circuit at the moment with more than 50 awards in competitions and a recent performance in Carnegie hall. The concert opener will be the Conservatorium Guitar classe’s own Alexander Feldman!

Marko has won more than 50 awards worldwide in the international guitar competitions in the professional category. Among them, 26 first places in the competitions in United States, Mexico, Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Liechtenstein, Serbia and Ukraine. The most notable prizes is available in the “awards” section. He plays guitars made by Karl-Heinz Roemmich, Yuichi Imai, Sakurai Kohno and Hong Sik Uhm. Marko is a D’Addario artist since 2012. Marko actively performs around the world, regularly gives concerts with the orchestra; he is desired teacher of the master classes and constantly mentioned in the mass media. Marko Topchii was born into a family of musicians in Kiev, Ukraine and is started studying guitar at the age of four. He is 24 years old and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree at the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music in Kiev under the guidance of Prof. Yuri Alexik, Honored Artist of Ukraine. He completed his master degree in the National University of Arts in Kharkov in 2011, where he studied under Prof. Volodymir Dotsenko, Honored Artist of Ukraine. Gitaaravond
Cor Mutsers, Han Jonkers, Chris Janssen, studeerden 40 jaar geleden samen aan het Conservatorium te Maastricht en zijn al die jaren in contact gebleven met als verbindende factor de passie voor gitaren en gitaarmuziek.
Cor Mutsers heeft een indrukwekkende staat van dienst als begeleider op steelstring gitaar van talloze artiesten, om er enkele te noemen: Kane, Ilse Delange, Ge Reinders, Gerard van Maasakkers, Toon Hermans en José Carreras. Deze avond wordt een unieke kans om deze rasmuzikant als solist aan het werk te zien, soloconcerten van hem zijn namelijk zeer zeldzaam.
Deze avond zal Cor eigen composities en bewerkingen van min of meer bekende stukken spelen waarbij hij ook een looper in zal zetten.

Han Jonkers heeft na zijn studie in Maastricht aan de Musik Akademie in Bazel verder gestudeerd bij Konrad Ragossnig en Oscar Ghilia en aldaar het solistendiploma behaald. Hij werkt al jaren in Zwitserland alwaar hij met bekende musici diverse cd’s heeft opgenomen en regelmatig concerteert. Zijn laatste cd: ‘Flexible Sky’ betreft een samenwerking met het befaamde Casal Quartet (strijkkwartet) waarmee hij in 2017 een tournee door Zimbabwe en Zuid Afrika heeft gemaakt.
Han Jonkers komt speciaal voor deze avond over uit Bazel en speelt klassieke gitaarwerken uit zijn huidige programma: “Zwischen Meditation und Leidenschaft ” (muziek uit Europa en Zuid Amerika)

Chris Janssen heeft op diverse muziekscholen gitaarles gegeven en de laatste jaren voor de gemeente Venlo gewerkt. Samen met Cor Mutsers vormde hij een klassiek gitaarduo dat diverse concerten heeft gegeven en een succesvolle cd op heeft genomen.
Deze avond zal er naast de solo optredens ook in duo en trio vorm worden gemusiceerd.
